Etizolam

Generic Name : Etizolam

Trade Name(s): 
India- Etizola, Etilaam, Inxity, Zoly.
International- Arophalm, Capsafe, Depas, Dezolam, Eticalm, Etidrale, Etisedan, Etizolan, Guperies, Medipeace, Mozun, Nonnerv, Palgin, Pasaden, Sedekopan, Sylazepam.


Why it is prescribed (Indications) : 
This medication is a hypnotic and sedative, prescribed for anxiety, and sleep disorders.




When it is not to be taken (Contraindications): 


Contraindicated in patients with increased eye pressure, coma, sleep disorder, severe liver impairment, porphyria, severe lung disease, and hypersensitivity.



When it is to be taken : 
Adult: PO- The recommended dose is up to 3 mg/day.

How it should be taken : 
It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with food.




Special Instruction : 
* Caution should be exercised in patients with history of lung insufficiency, muscle weakness, impaired liver or kidney function, alcoholism or drug addiction, elderly, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.


* It may cause dizziness or drowsiness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.


Side Effects : 
Most Common -

Drowsiness, sedation, muscle weakness and incoordination.
Central Nervous System -

Fainting, headache, confusion, depression, slurred speech, changes in libido and tremor.
Miscellaneous -

Visual disturbances, urinary retention or incontinence, gastrointestinal disturbances, changes in salivation and memory loss.

Other Precautions : 
* Avoid excess dosage.

Storage Conditions : 
Store it at room temperature.
