Lafutidine

Generic Name : Lafutidine

Trade Name(s): 
India- Lafutax, Lafter.
International- Protecadin, Stogar.


Why it is prescribed (Indications) : 
This medication is an antacid, prescribed for ulcer.




When it is not to be taken (Contraindications): 


Contraindicated to breastfeeding women.



When it is to be taken : 
Adult- PO- The recommended dose is 10mg twice daily.

How it should be taken : 
It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, one hour after food.




Special Instruction : 
* Caution should be exercised in patients with history of liver or kidney impairment, elderly and during pregnancy.


Side Effects : 
Most Common -

Constipation, increase in liver enzymes, increased level of blood urea, breast enlargement in male, loss of appetite, and hallucinations.

Other Precautions : 
* Avoid excess dosage.

Storage Conditions : 
Store it at room temperature.
