Why it is prescribed (Indications) : 
This medication is a naturally occurring mineral, prescribed for postmenopausal osteoporosis.




When it is not to be taken (Contraindications): 


Hypersensitivity.



When it is to be taken : 
Adult: PO- The recommended dose is 1,660 mg twice daily.




Special Instruction : 
* Monitor serum calcium level while taking this medication.


* Take this medication with vitamin D for maximal benefit.



* Caution should be exercised in patients with history of kidney impairment, and any allergy.

Side Effects : 
Increase in blood calcium.

Storage Conditions : 
Store the medication as directed by your physician.
