Hypromellose

Generic Name : Hypromellose

Pronunciation : hye-PROE-me-lose

Trade Name(s): 
International- Isopto Tears.


Why it is prescribed (Indications) : 
This medication is an eye lubricant, prescribed for dryness and irritation caused by reduced tear flow.




When it is not to be taken (Contraindications): 


Hypersensitivity.



When it is to be taken : 
Adults and children—Use 1 drop three or four times a day.

How it should be taken : 
It comes as eye drops to instill into the affected eyes as directed by your physician.




Special Instruction : 
* Caution should be exercised in patients with history of any allergy, children, elderly, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.


* It may cause blurred vision, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.

Side Effects : 
Blurred vision, irritation and itching.

Other Precautions : 
* Avoid excess dosage.

Storage Conditions : 
Store it in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture and direct light.
