Why it is prescribed (Indications) : This medication is an antihistamine, prescribed for allergic conditions.
When it is not to be taken (Contraindications):
Category B : Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women OR Animal studies have shown an adverse effect, but adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus in any trimester.
When it is to be taken : Adult: Oral- 2.5-5 mg/day in the evening. Max: 5 mg/day.
How it should be taken : It comes as a tablet, syrup to take by mouth with or without food.
Special Instruction :
* Caution should be exercised in patients with history of kidney or liver problems, any allergy, elderly, children, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
* It may cause drowsiness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.
Side Effects :
Fatigue, drowsiness, headache, dry mouth, inflammation of nasopharynx, fever, cough and nosebleed.
Other Precautions :
* Avoid alcohol consumption and excess dosage.
Storage Conditions :
Store it at room temperature (20-25°C).
