Why it is prescribed (Indications) :
This medication is an antacid, antireflux agent & antiulcerant, prescribed for peptic ulcer.
When it is not to be taken (Contraindications):
Category B : Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women OR Animal studies have shown an adverse effect, but adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus in any trimester.
When it is to be taken :
Adult: PO- Initial: The recommended dose is 300 mg at bedtime or 150 mg twice daily for 4-8 weeks depending on the condition.
How it should be taken :
It comes as a capsule and tablet to take by mouth, with or without food.
Special Instruction :
* Caution should be exercised in patients with history of porphyria, kidney or liver disease; during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Side Effects :
Headache, constipation, nausea, abdominal pain and dizziness.
Other Precautions :
* Avoid excess dosage.
Storage Conditions :
